3.1 Phillip Lim

Designer Phillip Lim debuted with the fashion line 3.1 Phillip Lim on the Fashion Week in New York in 2005. Its firm handwriting was the ability «without a seam» to combine refinement of an evening attire and street style.

Phillip Lim (real name of Feng Lim) was born in 1973 in Thailand. Soon after its birth Phillip's parents, immigrants from China, moved to Cambodia. However because of the civil war which had begun in Cambodia, it was necessary for the family to run to the Southern California where mother Phillip found work of a seamstress, and the father became a professional player in poker. At university of the State of California Phillip Lim combined training with work in the elite shop of clothes «Barneys» in Beverli Hilz. Once again, making the list of the cash goods of the shop, he found out the clothes of designer Kation Adeli. Adeli subdued by style, Phillip Lim called in Adeli`s office and asked to take him for work. In spite of the fact that then Lim had the slightest representation that no such portfolio, it started to train and soon got to a command of the designer grown fond to it.

By 2004 Phillip moved to New York. And already in 2005, having got the support of the partner in business Vienna Chzhu, he debuted with the first collection of own brand 3.1 Phillip Lim on the Fashion Week in New York. The fashion line instantly became sensation and caused approval of critics, celebrities and editors of fashionable magazines.

In 2007 Phillip Lim expanded a fashion line, having developed a number of models for men and children, and also presented a collection of sun glasses. Throughout development and growth, in June, 2007 the designer opened the first shop of clothes to New York. Then shops under the name «3.1 Phillip Lim» opened in Los Angeles and Tokyo.

The New York magazine has characterised its style as «slow furnish of details with romantic instants». Incredibility of its models consists that they look expensively and exclusively, being accessible under the price.
